Finding and buying a home is a huge life event; to me, it's similar to graduating from college, getting married, or expecting your first baby. Buying a home is the start of a new chapter, and it deserves a great deal of care and attention to make sure your experience is nothing short of amazing! I'm lucky that I'm in a profession where I get to help people with an important, momentous chapter in their lives. Officially becoming a REALTOR in 2006 was the best decision I ever made! But before that, in 2005, is when my real estate journey began. When I first set out in search of my first home, I had grand visions of how wonderful and exciting it was going to be to become a homeowner. Unfortunately, my real estate agent wasn't so great. My agent was there in the beginning of the home search process, but he soon became less and less available to guide me through the tricky homebuying process. It became clear that he just wanted a check, and in turn, I had a less-than-stellar experience. It's too bad, because buying (or selling!) a home is a BIG deal—it's a huge moment in your life! And, like most of those significant events in life—whether you're expecting a baby or getting married—you want it to be amazing. I remember wrapping up the purchase thinking that I could do a much better job. At the time, I was working for a large company doing B2B sales, and it started to turn into a negative situation: The company was giving me things to do that I knew were not in the best interest of the client, and I just wasn't comfortable working there anymore. I had some money saved, so I quit my old job, and in 2006 I officially became a REALTOR!

During childhood my family moved around quite a bit, mostly within the local area, on a relentless quest to find our ideal home. I was always part of the home buying process. I love touring homes, and even after having been through thousands of them, I still do. As a kid I also took great interest in how Realtors conducted business with their clients, and I still am fascinated by this; good, bad or otherwise. At university I formally trained in journalism; news reporting and public relations. During my studies and for a time after graduation I engaged in quite a bit of print news reporting for community publications with up to 50,000 circulations, all of which still thrive today. In 1999 I switched gears, landing a role in recruiting as an account manager for the Pacific Northwest’s largest digital media agency. I then ventured to buy my first home in 2002, and found the experience of finding a good Realtor to hire quite challenging. Ultimately I ended up with stellar representation, and still the experience left me wondering about the standards of quality and service in the real estate industry. I became licensed to practice real estate during what began as a desire to acquire investment property in 2004. My licensing was concurrent with another career transition to communications director for Washington’s second largest business chamber. My fledgling real estate practice quickly transformed into a passion for helping people successfully transact in residential real estate. In 2008 I finished out my contract with the chamber to put my heart and soul into my rapidly growing real estate practice, just as the housing market and economy were tanking. No regrets, it was perfect timing and a true testament to my proficiency as a Realtor. My doing business as name “Just Real Seattle” was born of my love for this town and the authenticity of our fellow locals. In 2010 my practice found its home at Keller Williams Greater Seattle in the Wallingford neighborhood.

When I left Olympia to attend the University of Washington, I didn't expect to fall in love with Seattle. But that's exactly what happened. Over the last two decades, I have happily put down roots in the city, whose nooks and crannies I never tire of exploring. When I’m not talking about real estate, I love spending time with my family and our dog, Dakota. And our home is a testament to my other passion -- interior design.
